Our theme was Tangled. We drew parallels to coming to earth and not knowing we are daughters of our Heavenly Father; the world (Gothel) tries to hide our divine identity by making us feel incompetent, talent-less, and undesirable; as we see the lanterns in our lives (other people's testimonies, learning the Gospel, learning the young women values) we feel something inside, and a desire to know more; we each take our own journey through the Gospel to realize who we are and the potential we have as daughters of a Heavenly King.
It was great... here is the invite I made up......I painted them with iridescent glitter paint stuff afterwards.
We decorated the room with a giant sun banner behind the speaker (like the one in the throne room) and then painted lanterns on navy butcher paper that we hung on the walls around the room like picture panels. The girls sang the tangled duet At Last I See The Light with different lyrics. We had the girls come up and talk about how each value had been a lantern to her in her life and had value colored mini paper lanterns that they lit an electric tea-light inside after they spoke. (sorry I dont have a pic of those.... they were just a design like the king and queens lantern from tangled that we printed on computer paper, colored the sun the right color, and then taped together at the seam.)
Then, we got to go outside and light off real wish-lanterns! That was SO magical and amazing! :) Check with your local law enforcement to see if it is ok to do it in your area. We came back inside and had a wrap-up, and ate ice cream and the girls took home candied popcorn with edible star glitter in it with this attached to the top of the bag.
It was a great night! Everything went well, and it was SO fun!
